At the beginning of this year, I decided upon the requirement that every piece of clothing or accessory that I buy in 2012 must have at least a pop of color. It's not as challenging as it might seem, as I naturally gravitate towards the more colorful pieces on the racks, but this practically guarantees that the majority of my outfits will be colorful this year. This, of course, was the overall goal, but there is always the omnipresent lure of neutrals. So far, 2012 has been good to Girl Loves Color. For this reason, I'm hoping to increase my number of outfit posts, so I can show all my wonderful readers how I style color into my ensembles. I hope my combinations inspire you to wear more color.
The main purpose of this outfit was to show off three of my newest acquisitions. The first of these is a sky blue leather jacket, given to me by my aunt, who received it from my parents years ago after a visit to Italy. I can proudly say that it is one of the most unusual pieces I own. When do you ever see a leather jacket in such a bright color? The second acquisition is an emerald green dress, which I bought yesterday from a little boutique on Bleecker Street called Sucre. I have a new fascination for emerald green, which until now had not been fulfilled. This dress was a great find in that it is so versatile: it can be dressed up or dressed down, and later in life I could perhaps wear it to work. My final acquisition was a pair of lovely gray shoes with the unexpected touch of a neon pink sole. The neon is an intelligent way to add a dose of color to an otherwise neutral accessory.
